What should be done in Abu Dhabi

The people in Abu Dhabi should be aware that government can’t make Abu Dhabi a cool city without their help so in my opinion I think that we should change our lifestyle in order to improve our city.

1- I think we should inform people about the differences between a cool city and pollution which will affect our children negatively in the future.

2- Media should inform people about the steps that people can do to reduce the amount of CO2 and carbon dioxide such as get rid of harmful fuel

3- Always we should think about clean technology which can make our life easier and without pollution.

4- the people in Abu Dhabi should try to recycle the waste instead of throwing it and the waste water should be recycled and used for agriculture.

5- We can encourage people in Abu Dhabi to keep their city clean and without pollution by giving them lots of examples about clean cities which have less pollution so why can not we become like those cities.

Why I would/would not like to live in Masdar city

I would like to live in Masdar city because in masdar city I should get rid of my bad lifestyle like using cars so why not I walk to my job instead of using transport.
Moreover in this city I should use less energy and materials so we should think about other solutions especially to control the temperature in the atmosphere for example I shouldn’t use the air condition which increases the amount of CO2 and carbon dioxide. Moreover people will find new methods to have fresh water and clean electricity without causing damage for natural resources. In Masdar city it will be zero-carbon emissions, zero waste and all waste production will be recycled so people should get rid of their activity which causing pollution. Bicycle will be the most important transport and people will not use private car. I like to live in masdar city because there will not be traffic and I can move from one place to another flexibly. People should obey the rules in order to keep our city cool and clean. In masdar city I will not use petrol so I will save my money because the price of fuel is increasing day after day.

1. Seattle: They reduced global warming pollution by more than 60 percent by constructing green buildings and operating alternative fuel vehicles.

2. Washington DC: DC has replaced 414 of its polluting diesel buses with buses that burn natural gases.

3. Houston: convert a substantial portion of the city of fleet of cars and trucks.

4. Marion County/Florida: they use gas-electric hybrid vehicles.

5. The city of Scottsdale: has introduced Arizona’s first green building program which helps builders and home owners learn about how to integrate energy efficiency and water saving.

6. Salt Lake City: they changed 861 traffic lights to LED light signals.

7. Colorado: is working to produce 50 percent of the city electricity with renewable energy by 2017.

8. Charlotte: they switched from a gas only Ford Taurus to a hybrid Toyota Prius or Honda Civic and that would save city taxpayers approximately $800-1200 per vehicle including over $400 in annual fuel cost.

9. Twin Falls/ Idaho: Reduce energy cost and cut pollution by increasing the energy efficiency of its 11 schools.

10. St. Paul: they use a system that uses heat drawn from a biomass-fired power plant.

One Planet Living

The One Planet Living programme is based on ten guiding principles:-

1- Zero carbon this mean the amount of CO2 in the air which out put from human activities and consumption.

2- Zero waste this mean to get rid of something that is not wanted or needed like garbage which can damage the expensive resources.

3- Sustainable transport this mean the different kind of transports that people use and caused many problems for environment such as pollution and climate change.

4- Local and sustainable materials this means process of decomposing and recovering substances such as in industries and manufacturing caused many problems for environment and reduce the advantages for the people.

5- Local and sustainable food this means the low quality of Industrial agriculture which produces food and it causes lots of damage for environment especially when the food is transported.

6- Sustainable water this means the amount of freshwater is declined because of pollution, dry and other human activities which make this water unsuitable for drink.

7- Natural Habitats and wildlife this means there is less of the natural areas such as palms trees, plants and animals areas because of damaging the natural resources by people.

8- Culture and heritage this means that the world becomes more open for people and people don’t care about their heritage and culture so people have less information and knowledge about their country.

9- Equity and fair trade this means that many poor countries produce and sell things which can’t satisfy people’s needs but in rich countries people have enough products which satisfy their ambitions.

10- Health and happiness this means that nowadays people feel happiness although the life becomes more comfortable and healthier so people don’t know the real reasons for contentment .

Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other harmful gases. The name of footprint come from the activity that people do on their life such as driving car and producing harmful gases. In this easy I will describe the reasons and the solutions that we can do it to avoid the footprint. My carbon footprint is 16 tonnes per annum and I need 4 planets like earth to live this type of life.

The most important reason is the harmful gases and CO2 which come from transport such as cars, aircrafts for example when I go to the college I always come by car. Moreover the lifestyle affects the environment badly because we use lots of electricity that produce carbon dioxide for example we use lots of electricity for cooking food, using air condition and leaving the lights open for long time.In addition when I travel by aircraft the air will have high amount of harmful gases.

On the other hand there are lots of solutions that we can do it to keep our environment clear. Firstly why don’t I come to the college with my friend instead of coming by my own car also I should reduce the hours of using my own car. I should change some lifestyle such as using lots of energy for electricity and reduce using the air condition. Thirdly I should reduce travelling in the summer so why not I spend my holiday with my family by visiting the nature places in the UAE.

In conclusion, we shouldn’t depend just on government to make our life clear and without carbon dioxide but all people should work hard to keep the environment clean for next generation

Conclusion

Nowadays the climate is changed dramatically and the temperature increases days after days because of human activity.
When the climate change the agriculture will suffer and the crops can not be cultivated in the situation. People should use items that can save the weather and don’t cause lots of pollution like get rid of harmful light bulbs. The government should make rules for people to change their behaviors which can affect the environment badly like traveling, eating meat and produce harmful gases. People always should think about green consumption choices and clean technologies for example in many countries like Canada people get rid of old light bulbs and use different kinds of light which can protect the environment against damage. At the end if the governments don’t work hard and inform people about cool city and make steps that can let people change their lifestyle the problem will increase rapidly in the future.

My reaction about An Inconvenient Truth

I am unhappy about global warming because people don’t realize that their activity caused many damages for environment and the global warming affects will appear in the future. I advise people to change their lifestyle in order to reduce the high amount of harmful gases. The simple example that affects the environment is the transport so why not we use bicycles instead of using cars. Many people like to travel in the summer by aircraft so we shouldn’t travel every year because the aircraft outputs lots of carbon dioxide. We should always think about the future because this problem will increase if we not change our lifestyle and the new generation will suffer.

No doubt that there are many countries around the world suffering from the pollution and global warming. The amount of carbon dioxide is increasing around the world and this causes a lot of damage for the environment, people and animals. The technology affects badly on our life. An Inconvenient Truth describes the AL Gore’s travels around the world to inform people about climate change and how it will affect the environment in the future. Al Gore lost The United States presidential election of 2000 because Bush won this election. In this movie Al Gore describes the scientific opinion on climate change and gives some information to educate people that global warning is not insignificant. Al gore said that there were many ice collapses on west Antarctica and in the Greenland there was lots of melting which causes a raise of global water levels. There is much evidence which demonstrate that the amount of carbon dioxide level is increasing rapidly in the atmosphere. The high temperature causes glacier melt which can provide the fresh water for irrigation and domestic use, animals and plants. Many sources say that human caused many damage for the environment because of his activities. Moreover, Al gore talked about his sister who died of lung cancer because she liked smoke cigarettes and the idea was that there was many industries which made harmful products and should stop their activities. In conclusion the effects of global warming can be successfully avoided by releasing less CO2 and planting more vegetation to consume existing CO2.

Lebanon

Lebanon one of the most important country in the Middle East. It is surrounded by 5 countries Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Cyprus and Palestine. In the bible it is called the land of milk and honey. Moreover it is capital Beirut is called Paris of the east. The famous singer “Shakira” is half Lebanese but somebody doesn’t know this information.

Now I will turn to describe the circumstances that affected Lebanon. There was big disagreement between Muslims and Christians due to 1948 Arab_ Israel war when 100000 Palestinians were evicted to Lebanon and Lebanon Christian were resentment. In addition in 1975 members of a radical Christian group attacked and killed a bus full of Palestinians in downtown Beirut. The result of the tensions is that the revenge killings followed and violence began to spiral out of control. In 1989, a peace deal was signed between Lebanese leaders and this deal make the situation more comfortable between Muslims and Christians. Between 150,000-200,000 people died due to civil war. Moreover many populations left their country to the Arabian countries and Beirut’s economy suffered and had many problems.

On the other hand, I will discuss about Lebanon nowadays. Living in Beirut is too expensive and the electricity and phone pill is very high. Beirut has lots of traffic because of high number of vehicles that it has. Also Beirut suffers from air pollution and governments try to make more ways to avoid this problem. The tourism in Beirut is very good in both winter and summer because the weather encourage tourists to come. The government wants to turn Beirut into a global financial centre to rival New York, Tokyo and London. I think Lebanon is different than other Arab countries so people say Beirut is Paris of the east.

China in Olympics pollution drive

China has a big problem which is air pollution but this problem became more important when Beijing was chosen to organize the Olympics games. The government of china makes more laws to reduce air pollution not just in Beijing but in the other cities. The air is still dirty and the reason for this problem is car emissions but there are lots of solutions such as use less-polluting petrol. For example in Brazil drivers use special kind of petrol ”ethylene “. It will be wonderful if we use bus on instead of using car. Also if we reduce the industry’s activities we can reduce the air pollution.
